Stateczni – Celejów Vineyard – an intimate vineyard in the heart of Kazimierz Landscape Park
Stateczni – Celejów Vineyard is an intimate, family-owned vineyard located in picturesque Celejów, on the southwestern slope of the Małopolski Vistula Gorge. This place hidden between Lublin and Kazimierz Dolny, in the heart of Kazimierz Landscape Park, is perfect for a peaceful trip, tasting local wines, and discovering the wine tourism side of the Lublin region.
The vineyard is run by Agnieszka and Michał Stateczni, who have been independently cultivating the vines and vinifying the harvested crops since 2017. It is a small, one-hectare plantation, which means the wines produced here have a unique, craft character. The vineyard focuses on quality, its own fruit, and attentive work with nature rather than mass production. The official Małopolski Vistula Gorge Wine Trail describes it as a family project producing signature wines on a small scale from fruits grown on its own plantation.
The uniqueness of this place also comes from its location. The limestone soil at the base of the steep slope and the loess plateau make the wines from Celejów complex and reflect the character of the local landscape. It is the combination of loess, limestone, sun, the airy slope, and the owners' work that creates the style of Celejów Vineyard – natural, calm, and very connected to the place.
The vineyard grows both classic Vitis vinifera grape varieties and modern PIWI hybrids, well adapted to the Polish climate. Among the varieties are, among others, Johanniter, Hibernal, Solaris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Regent, Muscaris, Cabernet Cortis, and Chasselas Blanc. The website of the Małopolski Vistula Gorge Winemakers Association lists some of these varieties as cultivated in Celejów Vineyard, with the Wine Trail also mentioning Gewürztraminer, Muscaris, and Chasselas Blanc.
The biggest attraction for visitors is wine tastings, held in the spring-summer season by prior arrangement. During the meeting, you can try several signature wines, learn the history of the vineyard, find out more about the cultivated varieties, production methods, and the specifics of the Małopolski Vistula Gorge as a wine region. This is an offer for both people already interested in wine and those just starting their adventure with local winemaking.
Tasting at Celejów Vineyard has an intimate, relaxed character. It is not only about tasting wine but also about meeting people who talk about their work, the place, the soil, the weather, the vines, and the patience required to make good wine. It is thanks to this that the visit becomes a true experience, not just another point on the map of attractions.
During the tasting, you can try from 3 to 6 wines, such as “czas” – semi-sweet rosé, “Lublin z dala – wieczorem” – dry white, or “księżyc w rynku” – semi-sweet white. The tasting may be accompanied by refreshments: bread, cheeses, and regional oils from local producers. These are simple, local additions that beautifully highlight the wine's taste and the region's character.
A visit to the vineyard also includes a walk among the vines. You can see what cultivation looks like up close, how the different varieties differ, how rows of vines are managed, and how much work the vineyard requires throughout the year. In spring it delights with fresh greenery, in summer with ripening clusters, and in late summer and autumn with harvest atmosphere.
Stateczni – Celejów Vineyard is also a great choice for those looking for a peaceful, less obvious attraction near Nałęczów. Its location in Kazimierz Landscape Park makes it possible to combine a visit with a trip to Kazimierz Dolny, a walk through loess gorges, or exploring small towns of the Małopolski Vistula Gorge.
Wine is sold on site, and the vineyard organizes tours by appointment. Contact details and the vineyard's address are confirmed by the Małopolski Vistula Gorge Winemakers Association: owners are Michał and Agnieszka Stateczni, the address is Celejów 91D, 24-160 Wąwolnica, and phone contacts are 607 091 633 and 512 473 798.
During your stay at Arche Nałęczów, it is worth planning a visit to Celejów Vineyard, especially from May to September. It is an excellent option for an afternoon trip, meeting local winemaking, tasting signature wines, and peaceful relaxation in the beautiful landscape of Kazimierz Landscape Park.
