Bike routes – active discovery of Nałęczów and surroundings

Nałęczów and its surroundings are an excellent destination for cycling enthusiasts. The spa climate, intimate streets, loess ravines, Bystra river valley, fields, forests, orchards, and picturesque villages create ideal conditions for both a short recreational ride and a longer expedition through the Land of Loess Ravines.

This is a region best discovered calmly — stopping at viewpoints, monuments, chapels, mills, sanctuaries, and local attractions. The bike routes around Nałęczów vary greatly: from easy family sections, through recreational loops, to challenging routes for more experienced cyclists.

It is worth remembering that the Nałęczów area is hilly, and some routes run on dirt roads, fields, forest paths, or less paved sections. Therefore, it is best to check the route in a mobile app before departure, match it to your fitness, and choose the appropriate bike. For shorter rides around the city, a city or trekking bike is sufficient, while for longer trips through ravines, fields, and dirt roads, a trekking, gravel, or MTB bike works best.

1. Spa route around Nałęczów – perfect for a relaxed start

Length: approx. 5–7 km
Duration: approx. 30–60 minutes, depending on the number of stops
Difficulty: easy
Best bike: city, trekking, recreational
For whom: families, couples, seniors, beginners, and guests who just want to feel the atmosphere of Nałęczów

This is the simplest option for a short ride without going far outside the town. The route can begin directly at Arche Nałęczów, using the Nałęczów City Bike or your own bicycle. It is worth heading towards the Spa Park, Park Pond, Mineral Water Pump Room, Palm House, Małachowski Palace, Bolesław Prus bench, and bicycle monument.

This route is more of a stroll than a sporting challenge. You can ride slowly, stop for photos, rest by the water, visit the Pump Room, or plan a coffee in downtown Nałęczów. It is ideal for the first day of stay, a short ride after breakfast, or light activity following relaxation in the hotel wellness zone.

2. Jastrzębi Trail – classic loop through Wąwolnica and Bystra valley

Length: approx. 20 km
Duration: approx. 1.5–2.5 hours
Difficulty: moderate
Best bike: trekking, gravel, MTB
For whom: active people who like nature, local landscapes, and quiet routes off main roads

Jastrzębi Trail is one of the most interesting bike routes around Nałęczów. It starts in Nałęczów and goes through picturesque areas, fields, forests, the Bystra river valley, and the vicinity of Wąwolnica. The route is a loop, allowing you to start and finish in Nałęczów.

This is an option for those who want to see a less obvious side of the spa town — more natural, pastoral, and peaceful. Along the way, you can admire cultivated fields, groves, the Bystra valley, and landscapes typical of the Land of Loess Ravines. Halfway through the route, it's worth stopping in Wąwolnica, known for the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Kębelsk.

The route is unmarked on the ground and mainly available in mobile apps, so it's advisable to download the GPS track before departure. Some sections run on dirt roads, fields, and some more demanding parts, so this is not a typical city route. A trekking bike with wider tires, gravel, or MTB will work best.

3. Nałęczów – Czesławice – Gutanów – short connecting trail

Length: 8 km one way
Duration: approx. 35–50 minutes one way
Difficulty: easy
Best bike: city, trekking, gravel
For whom: beginners, families with older children, people looking for a short and calm route

The Nałęczów – Gutanów trail is a short, pleasant route marked in blue. It functions as a connector between Nałęczów and the green trail leading through Garbów Municipality. It is a good option for those who want to ride outside the spa center but do not plan a long expedition.

The route passes through Czesławice to Gutanów. Along the way, it is worth noticing the palace complex in Czesławice and the peaceful rural landscape around Nałęczów. This trail is good for a recreational ride, light training, or an afternoon trip from the hotel.

Due to its short length and gentle character, the route is also suitable for those just starting to cycle. It can be treated as a standalone round trip or as the beginning of a longer ride through the area.

4. BTR1: Nałęczów – Wąwolnica – Niezabitów – Wojciechów – Nałęczów

Length: 28.13 km
Duration: approx. 2–3 hours
Difficulty: moderate
Best bike: trekking, gravel, cross
For whom: active families with older children, couples, recreational cyclists with basic fitness

The BTR1 route is a very interesting loop connecting Nałęczów, Wąwolnica, Niezabitów, and Wojciechów. It is a great option for those who want to combine cycling with visiting local attractions.

Along the route, you can plan a stop in Wąwolnica, then head towards Wojciechów — a town known for the Blacksmith Museum, Arian Tower, Owadolandia insect park, Wojciechów Zoo, and other family attractions. Thus, BTR1 can be not only a bike trip but also a full active day with stops.

The route has a moderate distance but due to the terrain requires basic fitness. It is best to choose a trekking, gravel, or cross bike that can handle both asphalt and less even sections.

5. BTR2 MTB mini – Nałęczów, Wąwolnica, Bartłomiejowice, Rąblów, and Łubki

Length: 31.73 km
Duration: approx. 2.5–4 hours
Difficulty: moderate, partly more demanding
Best bike: MTB, gravel, trekking with good tires
For whom: active people who enjoy off-road sections, hills, and loess landscapes

BTR2, called MTB mini, is a route for those who want to feel the more rugged character of the Nałęczów surroundings. It leads through Wąwolnica, Bartłomiejowice, Rąblów, Łubki, and back to Nałęczów. It is a great option for people who like riding off the most obvious roads and want to see parts of the Land of Loess Ravines from the bike saddle.

The route includes hilly sections, local roads, more natural and scenic parts. This is not the most difficult MTB trip but requires more attention than a typical city route. A mountain or gravel bike will work best.

A big advantage of this route is the landscapes — fields, valleys, ravines, less frequented roads, and proximity to Rąblów, where you can combine your trip with a visit to the Labyrinth and Miniatures Park.

6. BTR3 – Nałęczów, Czesławice, Garbów, Gutanów, Bronice, and Drzewce

Length: 38.30 km
Duration: approx. 3–4.5 hours
Difficulty: moderate
Best bike: trekking, gravel, cross
For whom: people who like longer, peaceful loops through villages, fields, and local landscapes

The BTR3 route runs through the northern and eastern surroundings of Nałęczów: Czesławice, Ludwinów, Garbów, Gutanów, Góry, Olszowiec, Bronice, and Drzewce. It is a good option for those who want a longer but still recreational trip through less crowded areas.

This route is more scenic than purely touristic. Along the way, peaceful roads, fields, villages, local buildings, and natural views dominate. It is a great choice for those who enjoy a longer ride rhythm but do not necessarily want to face a very tough off-road trail.

It is worth planning enough water, a small snack, and breaks. At a calm pace, BTR3 can be a very pleasant half-day trip from Nałęczów.

7. Black connector Nałęczów – Bronice

Length: 9.71 km
Duration: approx. 45–70 minutes
Difficulty: easy to moderate
Best bike: trekking, gravel, MTB
For whom: people who want a shorter route with the possibility of connecting to other trails

The Black connector leads from Nałęczów towards Bronice and connects with the yellow trail "In the land of Jan Pock.” It is an interesting option for those who want to ride outside the city center and see a quieter, more local side of the Nałęczów surroundings.

The route runs through parts of Nałęczów streets as well as Chruszczów-Kolonia, Drzewce-Kolonia, and Drzewce. Near the trail is the Nałęczów Menagerie, so the ride can be combined with a family visit to the mini zoo.

This is a good choice for a shorter but interesting trip. Because it can be connected further to other trails, it can also be part of a longer route for more experienced cyclists.

8. Lublin – Nałęczów – Kazimierz Dolny – classic route for the persistent

Length: approx. 62 km
Duration: approx. 4.5–6.5 hours, without long stops
Difficulty: hard
Best bike: gravel, trekking, cross, e-bike trekking
For whom: experienced cyclists, people with good fitness, and fans of longer trips

This is one of the most important cycling routes in the region. It connects Lublin, Nałęczów, and Kazimierz Dolny, passing through picturesque parts of Kazimierz Landscape Park, the Bystra valley, Wąwolnica, Rąblów, Wojciechów, Motycz, and Dąbrowica.

The route is very scenic but requires good fitness. There are climbs, longer sections, and variable surfaces. For guests of Arche Nałęczów, a good option is covering only part of the route, e.g., Nałęczów – Wąwolnica – Rąblów – Kazimierz Dolny or Nałęczów – Wojciechów – Motycz.

This is for those who want to treat cycling as a full-fledged way to explore the region. Along the way, you can visit Wąwolnica, the areas around Rąblów, Kazimierz Dolny, and stop at viewpoints and less known towns.

9. BTR4 MTB medio – Nałęczów, Rąblów, Kazimierz Dolny, and return via Wąwolnica

Length: 63.30 km
Duration: approx. 5–7 hours
Difficulty: hard
Best bike: MTB, gravel, e-bike trekking, or e-MTB
For whom: advanced cyclists and those looking for a full-day trip

BTR4 MTB medio is one of the most demanding routes around Nałęczów. The route goes through Wąwolnica, Bartłomiejowice, Rąblów, Kazimierz Dolny, again Wąwolnica, Łubki, and back to Nałęczów. It combines beautiful landscapes, loess terrain, more rugged sections, and one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the region — Kazimierz Dolny.

This route is for people who like long trips and are prepared for fatigue, climbs, and changing conditions. In exchange, it offers a lot: ravines, fields, villages, valleys, views, and a chance to spend more time in Kazimierz Dolny.

For this trip, it is worth bringing water, snacks, a basic repair kit, a charged phone, and preferably a GPS track. Given the length and varied terrain, a MTB, gravel, or electric bike is an excellent choice.

Which bike to choose in Nałęczów?

For short rides around town, to the Spa Park, Mineral Water Pump Room, Prus Museum, or Żeromski’s Cottage, a city bike or classic recreational bike is enough. This is the best choice for those who just want to quietly explore Nałęczów.

For routes of 8–20 km, a trekking, cross, or gravel bike is best. They provide more comfort than a city bike and handle local roads, gravel, and uneven surfaces better.

For BTR routes, Jastrzębi Trail, and areas around Rąblów, Wąwolnica, and Kazimierz Dolny, the best choice is a gravel bike, trekking bike with wider tires, or MTB. The region is hilly, and surfaces are variable, so comfort and stability are more important here than speed.

For those who want to see more but don't have sports fitness, an electric bike can be a great solution. An e-bike helps overcome climbs more easily, extend the route, and enjoy the landscape without excessive fatigue.

How to prepare for the trip?

Before leaving, it is worth checking the route in a mobile app, e.g., Mapy.cz, Komoot, Google Maps, or another cycling app. Some routes are not marked on the ground, so a GPS track can be very helpful.

For longer trips, bring water, a snack, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, a light rain jacket, basic bike tools, a spare tube or repair kit. After rain, dirt roads and loess sections can be slippery, so it is good to be cautious.

During your stay at Arche Nałęczów, a bike can become the best way to discover the region. It allows seeing more than on foot, stopping where the view captivates, and feeling the peaceful rhythm of Lublin region. Whether you choose a short ride around the spa, a family route to Wojciechów, or a full-day trip to Kazimierz Dolny, the Nałęczów surroundings offer plenty for two-wheel enthusiasts.
