Nadwiślańska Narrow Gauge Railway – a nostalgic journey through the picturesque areas of Lublin Region
Nadwiślańska Narrow Gauge Railway is a unique tourist attraction that allows you to travel back in time and feel the atmosphere of old railway journeys. The route runs through the picturesque areas of Powiśle, and a ride on a historic train is a great proposal for families with children, railway enthusiasts, and people seeking an unusual form of exploring the region. The starting station is located in Karczmiska, about 35 km from the Arche Nałęczów hotel (approx. 35–40 minutes by car).
Nadwiślańska Narrow Gauge Railway was established in 1892 on the estate of the Kleniewski family. Initially, it consisted of wooden tracks on which special horse-drawn carriages transported sugar beets from the Polanówka farm fields to the Zagłoba sugar factory.
Currently, Nadwiślańska Narrow Gauge Railway is an interesting tourist attraction. Renovated and restored, it invites travelers. The railway route passes through the most charming and attractive places of this part of the voivodeship. The train regularly runs the Karczmiska – Opole Lubelskie – Karczmiska – Polanówka route. The journey ends with a bonfire in a forest clearing.

With the arrival of May, the railway comes to life, marking the official start of the season.
Railway enthusiasts can visit the station complex and the Railway Museum in Karczmiska. Additionally, there is an opportunity to climb the observation tower, where prints of old photos on canvas are displayed on each floor. The whole is crowned with a viewing terrace, from which you can admire the panorama of the area through a telescope … up to the horizon.
The station in Karczmiska has prepared a green relaxation area for visitors, complete with park benches and tables, as well as a large parking lot. Additional offerings include bike rental, carriage rides, and for active people who like challenges, rides on pedal rail carts.
