The Nadwiślańska Narrow-Gauge Railway was established in 1892 on the estate of the Kleniewski family. Initially, it consisted of wooden tracks along which special horse-drawn carriages transported sugar beets from the fields of the Polanówka farm to the "Zagłoba" sugar factory.
Currently, the Nadwiślańska Narrow-Gauge Railway serves as an interesting tourist attraction.
Renovated and restored, it invites travelers. The train route runs through the most charming and attractive places in this part of the voivodeship. The train regularly travels the route Karczmiska – Opole Lubelskie – Karczmiska – Polanówka. The journey is crowned with a bonfire in a forest clearing.
Riding the train is just the beginning of the attractions...
With the arrival of May, the railway comes to life, and this is the month of the festive season inauguration.
For railway enthusiasts, a visit to the station complex and the Railway Museum in Karczmiski has been made available. Additionally, there is the possibility to ascend the observation tower, where old photographs are presented on canvases at each level. The experience culminates with a viewing terrace, from which one can admire the panorama of the area… as far as the horizon.
The station in Karczmiski has prepared a green zone for visitors to relax, complete with park benches and tables as well as a large parking area. Additionally, bike rentals, carriage rides, and for active people who enjoy challenges, rides on pedal railcars are available.
The Nadwiślańskie Pedal Railcars operate on the routes:
Karczmiska – Pustelnia - Karczmiska,
Karczmiska – Poniatowa - Karczmiska
Karczmiska – Polanówka.
